THE FRAME THAT CHANGED IT ALL

When the Fatback first arrived on the scene, fat bikes were limited to the Surly Pugsley and a few custom steel bikes. We wanted something that handled more like a bike, put the rider in a more comfortable position, accommodated wider rims, and allowed for the use of a strong 29er wheelset in the summer, and came in under 4 lbs. The Fatback was created.

We began testing a 165mm rear hub before deciding the 170mm symmetrical rear was created a better clearance and tire sizes, After pushing the limits with tire size we began to develop 190mm and 197mm rear hubs, where most of the industry has followed. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, hence the introduction of a fat bike into almost every major brands lineup. Fatback led the innovation which has helped the fat bike gain such great popularity. We strive to continue to the push the limits, with high quality, innovative, and well thought out bikes and accessories.

FATBACK BIKES IS RUN BY A HANDFUL OF SHOP GUYS

What’s our passion? The Ride.  We love bikes to, but it’s all about getting out on the trails, and into the back country. We are explorers, bike backers, racers and commuters.  If we can’t do it by bike, we try and figure out a way that we can. Our meetings often get side tracked with conversations about places we want to go ride and “make a film or do a photo shoot”. The only bad part, our list is getting longer not shorter! Keep an eye out for our next adventure, We’re thinking New Zealand or maybe Peru!
